So remembering that fortune favors the brave, let’s get out and meet someone today. Social media is an effective lead generator, but I still want us to meet face to face with others. But all these things do not beat a good face to face encounter. Social media works on this same principle connecting with others through comments, posts, and discussions. That’s where first impressions are formed and trust begins. Nothing makes business happen faster than a good face to face meeting. By the way, networking is one of the best things you can do for your business. Actually, I became pretty good at networking. I quickly realized that I loved networking face to face with other business owners. I learned that I had to get out and help make business opportunities happen.
One of the early lessons that I learned in business was this, if I sit on my butt in the office and wait for calls to come, business won’t happen. There are and will be many challenges that will face us as business owners and entrepreneurs. After all, there are so many great people to meet.
Strangers are potentially new customers we just need to reach out to. But business has a way of beating that out of you. It may be hard to believe that I once was a fairly shy person. The Roman poet Virgil said this: “Fortune favors the brave.” The only question that you and I must ask is this…”Are we brave enough?” I constantly revisit this question from time to time in my business. Fortune favors the brave social media users who dare to go beyond their level of comfort. Will you reach out to connect with someone you do not know? Will you reply to a comment by another. Social media is about risk in many cases. Social media will cause the user to stretch well beyond their level of comfort.
